What exactly is Tonemaki™?

Alright, let’s break it down. If you’re a brand seeking to stand out with comprehensive visual solutions, Tonemaki™ is your go-to bespoke productized design service. Our subscription model lets you skip the hiring hassle as we craft unique art, design, and tech experiences across 2D, 3D, Motion, and Web. Think of us as your personal sushi chef for design, creating a distinctive identity to drive sustained growth.

Who are the designers?

Tonemaki™ it’s led by Tone Segurado, an award-winning generalist fullstack designer, animator, and illustrator. Check out his website here to see who you’re working with.

Are you always open for new clients?

It depends on our capacity. If you spot 'Sold Out,' it means we're at full tilt, focusing exclusively on our current clients. Quality attention is key—Generalists and Full-Stackers at our rates are rare, and we want to ensure every client gets the care they deserve. We recommend checking back or reach out Tone directly for notifications when slots reopen.

How do I get started with Tonemaki™?

Easy. Simply click “Get Started” to your plan, or book a free call. You’ll get your Private Trello board link within 24 hours, and boom, you're in business. Start requesting and receiving designs just like that.

How do I request designs?

We use Trello to manage your design requests and deliverables. You’ll receive access to your private Trello board upon subscribing, where you can add tasks, review progress, and provide feedback. Additionally, all billing and subscription details can be managed through our secure Stripe client portal, which you can access via a one-time passcode sent to your email.

Can I pause or cancel my plan at any time?

Of course. Pause, cancel, whatever you need. No penalties. Just give us a heads up.

Can I change my plan at any time?

Absolutely. Whether you need more features, faster turnarounds, or want to adjust your budget, you can upgrade or downgrade whenever it suits you. Just reach out, and we’ll handle the switch. You’ll only pay the difference, and we’ll update your billing date accordingly.

What's your return policy?

Our return policy? Simple. You will return. This means no refunds. We carefully plan our time to deliver top-quality work for all clients on board—even when there’s no immediate request. We’re here, ready, and waiting for your next move. If you don’t need anything right now, just pause or cancel your subscription. Fair enough, right?

What services don’t you cover?

We’re all about delivering top-notch design—2D, 3D, motion graphics, visual identity, Webflow sites, pitch decks, etc... These are our strengths, and we pour our expertise into every project. However, we don’t cover areas like copywriting, film editing, sound design, voice-over, audio mixing, music composition, rigging, coding, or others.

How does billing work?

Billing is handled through secure payments by Stripe. You'll be billed based on a 31-day period, and any unused days can be banked for future use. This ensures flexibility and transparency in your payments.

Can I add teammates to handle requests?

Of course. Unlimited users can be added to the same subscription. Just ask us, and we'll send the link.

How many design requests can I make?

No limits. Pile them up in your backlog column. We’ll tackle them one at a time (or two with the Emperor plan) until they're all done.

How fast can I get my designs?

Most requests are done within two days or less. It depends on the phase of the work and the service you asked for (websites, brand designs, motion, and illustration). We break it down into three phases: Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production. Updates come every 24-48 hours. Keep your requests and feedback coming to keep us in the game.

Can you explain your workflow?

Sure, here’s how it works based on the service:
Visual ID:
Pre-Production: Briefing, Discovery
Production: Logo, Type & Color, Visual Messaging & Voice, Print & Digital Pieces
Post-Production: Brand Guidelines
Website:
Pre-Production: Briefing, Wireframe, Web Design
Production: Webflow Development, Visuals
Post-Production: Iterate, Delivery, On-Air
2D/3D Illustration:
Pre-Production: Briefing, Manual Sketch, Digital Sketch
Production: Modeling, Lights/Shadows, Texturing Materials
Post-Production: Rendering, Final Artwork
Motion Design:
Pre-Production: Briefing, Your Script, Style Frames, File Preparation
Production: Your Voice Over, Animation, Your Audio Mix
Post-Production: Final Composition, Rendering, Sign Off

What tools do you use?

We use the best out there: Maxon One, Figma, Adobe CC, Webflow, GSAP, GSG+, and more. It’s like having the best ingredients and knives in a sushi kitchen.

What if I’m not satisfied with a delivery?

If you don’t like it, toss it back into the “active requests” column on Trello. We’ll keep working until you’re happy. It’s like sending back a bad sushi roll – we avoid bad experiences at all costs.

Are there any additional costs?

No hidden fees for our design services. Our pricing is transparent and covers everything we create. However, some third-party costs may arise, like purchasing website domains, hosting, fonts, or music licenses. These services are not part of our offerings and would need to be paid directly to their respective providers. For example, licensing a font for a large organization could involve a significant fee, depending on the number of users. We use tools for design, but you handle third-party purchases.

How does the pause feature work?

Pause whenever you need. Billing is based on a 31-day period, and unused days are banked for future use. Simple and flexible.

Do you handle large-scale projects?

Yes, we do. For big projects, we step outside the standard plans. Contact Tone for more info.

Why not go with others?

Because you want it all: brand, motion, illustration, and web. Bringing in full-time pros for each can cost a small fortune—$100K+ per year, plus benefits—and they won’t always be busy. Freelancers and retainers? They come with headaches: contracts, negotiations, fluctuating costs, admin overload. With Tonemaki™, you skip all that. Check our seats, book your spot, and get what you need, when you need it. No long-term contracts, no hassle—just top-notch work on your terms. But fair warning: we might be booked.

Can my agency hire you for design?

Absolutely! We work with a wide range of clients, including other brand, ad, and design agencies. To discuss your agency's design needs in detail and explore how we can support your projects, book a call for any of the above packages.
